On Medal and Flat Classes…

All Medal Classes: Judged on the rider’s equitation. We want to see that the rider has a plan, is alert, and driven. Course may include tricky elements like a halt, sharp turns, dropped stirrups, or a horsemanship question. Medal classes are often used to advance a rider from hunters to jumpers without see a degradation in finesse of the riding. Medal classes are generally considered premier scouting classes for future elite athletes.

All Flat Classes: Riders will be asked to enter the ring and track right. The class is over when the announcer asks riders to line up facing away from the judge. If class is difficult to pin, announcer will ask for sitting trot, posting, two-point, extended trot, collected trot, halt, hand gallop, or back. We may split horses for canter work if the ring is crowded in order to promote safety. *We may need to move jumps to make room for horses to work on the rail safely. Volunteers appreciated.

General Info:

Awards: After the last class of the division, all riders should return to the ring, dressed, still wearing their numbers. We will announce awards for all classes in the division at once.

Lunch: No food on-site, but venue is short drive from 27th and HWY20.

Sunday Class Descriptions - Jumpers and Mounted Games

Class Descriptions

Cross Entry is Allowed - Due to the small nature of our show, the same horse+rider pair may cross enter between divisions.

Trot-a-Course & Lead Line Division: Intended for a helper to jog a little kid through a course or for helper to stand nearby in the ring while kid does their course. We will likely see many kids age 4-8 on the leadline on geriatric mounts or ponies under 13h in this division.

Grasshopper Division: Intended for walk/trot riders or walk/trot horses. Helper is allowed to be in the ring with green riders or horses.

.5m Division - Max 18”. Mix of crossrails and verticals.

.6m Division - Max 2ft. Oxers included.

.75m Division - Max 2’6”. Oxers included.

Spreads - Spreads will not be set wider than height of jump.

After Lunch Divisions - A course of 5-8 jumps if we are indoors, 7-10 jumps if we are outdoors.

Gambler's Choice - There will be fences set to heights a little below and a little above the division height. The purpose of the class is to help riders get to jump a lot of jump without memorizing a course and also get to do jumps they are comfortable with if they want or jumps that challenge them. Riders try to jump as many jumps as they can before the buzzer. Jumps display a point value. Ribbon placings are based on order of who gets the most points.

Jumpers - Course will be posted. Riders memorize the course. A knocked pole is 4 time faults and a refusal is 4 times faults. No jump offs in classes before lunch. Need to go clear in first round to qualify for jump off. In jump off, fastest time wins.

General Info:

All Jump Classes - 3 refusals will result in being disqualified. Riders may not use the whip on the horse’s rump more than 3 times and whipping is discouraged.

Awards: After the last class of the division, all riders should return to the ring, dressed, still wearing their numbers. We will announce awards for all classes in the division at once.

Lunch: No food on-site, but venue is short drive from 27th and HWY20.

Schooling: Schooling is allowed in the show arena 8:30am-9:30am and 12:30-1:30pm. For a fee of $25, riders can school at the grounds during the week prior to the show. Any horses who wish to school but not enter any classes must pay a $25 schooling fee.
